Design Is Thinking Made Visual

...so said Saul Bass. (We'll take his word for it, as he designed stunning posters for some of our favorite movies.)

And when it comes to The Vegan Next Door logo, we did a LOT of thinking.

Rachel worked with online tools to create some options. Do we go the route of 1950's or 60's nostalgia and feature a Pheonix personification of "the girl next door"?

It was hard to craft just the just right physicality to represent Pheonix.

Maybe food, we thought. This is, afterall, a brand about delicious eats!

Hmmmmm... We didn't set out to make a cooking show, per se. It's more of an eating show. A lifestyle show.

Rachel kept leaning too much on the yellow we envisioned for TVND's front door. Speaking of doors, we tried to keep the neighborhood vibe with:

...and Pheonix came up with some gorgeous renditions by hand:

Ultimately, using a door literally felt too on the nose.

We considered scrapping imagery entirely and just going with a likable font. Finally, we realized we needed to consult a professional. And we did. Her name is Megan Archer, and she came up with the grounded whimsy of our front-door-wreath-of-a-logo:

The Vegan Next Door Final Logo

After overthinking it for weeks, we received this amazing visualization of all we had in our minds but couldn't quite manifest on paper. Let that be a lesson to us! You would never take steakhouse recommendations from a friendly vegan.

Get Megan!
